Domestic Safes

Just Carpentry & Locks can help you with safes for the home & business. Our staff have lots of information about safe locks, how they work and how to open them.

We can help you with the following:

Grade

Safes vary in the degree of protection they offer against attack, this is the grade of the safe. Each grade is awarded an overnight cash rating by insurance companies. The rating starts at £1000 for cash or £10,000 for jewellery. The rating of the safe can also vary depending on location etc.

Size & Weight

A good safe is constructed from heavy materials and large sizes will be very heavy to move and install. Location and accessibility must be taken into consideration when looking at your requirements.

Types

If you are wanting to store valuable documents then a fire safe will be required. A wall safe is discreet and secure. A floor safe can be planned in a new build property. If you need to store cash then a rated safe will be required.

Locks

Safes are key operated as standard. Other options are dial combination and electronic key pad. So it depends if you want to have a key or want to remember a code. This may also depend on how many people use the safe on a daily basis.

Which Locksmith in Cheltenham?

Firstly

The Police do not approve or recommend any Locksmiths, they do however recognise the Master Locksmiths Association as a not for profit professional organization (alongside The Home Office).

Secondly

Reputable Locksmiths should only have one trading name, one address and one landline telephone number (make sure these are genuine, anyone can list a telephone number and address to make themselves ‘local’).

Lastly

Do your homework and do not rush into making a decision. Ask friends or family for help or recommendations. We all panic when we lose keys and can then make a wrong and rash decision.

A Word About Prices

So you have phoned around getting the cheapest price? A cheaper price generally means materials and labour of a lesser quality, you will pay more for a brand of lock (Chubb, Union Yale) but they will last longer. You will also want professional fitting, so beware of cheaper prices.
